We have just one more week in the third quarter of Saving Money Calories and Time in 2009! And as I have closed each month with a catch-all-phrase, I never realized that this trendy tip was from a William Shakespeare play. Wikipedia describes the quote in this way:
All's Well That Ends Well is a play by William Shakespeare. It was probably written between 1601 and 1608,[1] and it was first published in the First Folio in 1623. Though originally the play was classified as a comedy, the play is now considered by some critics to be one of his problem plays, so named because they cannot be neatly classified as tragedy or comedy.
I had originally chosen this phrase because I thought we'd all be encouraged by the thought of how nearing the end of the quarter can and should be viewed as a positive race to the finish. But after reviewing the play notes, I realize that the message Shakespeare was giving had more to do with getting to the end no matter the means. Which, of course, most of us perpetually find ourselves repeating the same silly habits and getting the same silly results--that don't usually result in lasting change...until WE change.
Friends, I am asking you to consider that this quarter and this year is NOT QUITE OVER. What might you do (that you said you'd do when you began this series), save, give, or lose before this quarter and year are over? What might it take for you to achieve that end? And is there any message to you in the idea that ending well has a much better sense of accomplishment when you've been planning and participating WELL all along the way?
Let's consider, this week, how/what/when/where/why we can make a 2 week run for the end line with great passion and personal strength and courage. Yes?
Be encouraged,
Becky

Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone who has been lifting me up before the Lord. I am on the other side of surgery now and doing well. I am at home now to finish the recovery process. God answered people’s prayers beyond belief. There is not room enough to tell all the ways He has gone before, after and intervened in the middle. I am a very blessed child!
Today I received the results of the pathology report and I am Cancer free. Praise the Lord.
My goal has been to begin to eat healthier and I have not done so through the whole 3 quarters. But that will change now. I will have to figure out all the healthy ways to eat. I do know, for me healthier now means a high fiber, lean protein and low carb diet.
As I recover I will have some time to figure out meal planning snacks etc.
I am looking forward to feeling better, spending more time with my hubby, and maybe getting started on a couple of projects that I believe are from the Lord. One being getting my last wishes in order, putting together a legacy book, and perhaps writing a book or a compilation of stories/devotionals.
I plan on participating much more in the last quarter then I have all year. I have learned much in the past 3 months on this personal journey. Much that I pray God will use to touch the lives of others.
Again thank you for your prayers! God has answered them in amazing ways!
Hope to be on the call with all of you tomorrow!
Hugs, Sandra
What a WONDERFUL report--woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteAmen! What wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteSandra,
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing your report was to me. I have been cancer free for 11 years. May I suggest a fabulous book that can help you on your journey. Anti Cancer A New Way Of Life by David Servan-Schreiber,MD
Diet, exercise and faith play important roles.
Becky,
Thanks for the encouragement that we are not over yet. Tomorrow is another day in which we can finish strong. I want to give more and spend less on things that don't matter to God. I need a money plan and glad that I still have a few months left in the year to get it in place. I seem to make the same silly mistakes over and over again. The journalling really helps to identify these areas where God would like to see change. God bless you all
Hi All: Gee, I did a novel thing today.
ReplyDeleteI actually *did* some things on the list that resulted from 20/20/20.
I made some important notes at church, which will go in my 20 minutes to pray.
I did two things I have been putting off forever (you told us to plan, but fulfilling the plan is the hard part!). If I can get to the exercising/play this week, I will have made some improvements.
Thanks Becky and everyone, for putting life into a reasonable plan and perspective.
I have some wonderful news. As I shared, we asked for a remodification loan and although we were offered one, it is clear to my husband and I that we are not going to accept their offer so we will be moving in October. Becky you prayed for me when my oldest son was so upset with his dad and me. I want you to know that we reconcilled about a month ago. I have sense had the grandchildren several times to babysit, I also admitted to God that I was jealous of Randy's mother-in-law. Since that time, Randy owns two homes in Valley Center. Of course he lives in one and the other home is a 20 acre flower farm that Randy and his wife and her mother own. This house has been rented so Doug and I did not consider this an option but God did. The people in the 3 bedroom home on the flower farm has bought a home and the house has been offered to us to rent. My heart is so full. I can now look back to two years ago and see how God protected us when we had to declare bankruptcy. You see we wanted to keep the house and we told the judge but the lawyer did not file the right paperwork. Had the right paperwork been filed we would be facing my wages being garnished. I was so mad at the attorney but now I could kiss him because we are upside down in the house. It is only worth 275,000 and we owe 579,000.
ReplyDeleteTruly, I have accepted God's forgiveness for not being a good steward of our money and I have now dealt with the emotions of losing this house. I have been on a emotional roller coaster and I feel like the ride finally ended.
I am praising God that through this I have lost 35.5 pounds since June. I am abstinent. I am not cheating on my medically supervised fast. I am praying and in God's word.
I feel like the writer of Isaiah when he wrote Isaiah 61:3, to provide for those who grieve in (Escondido, CA) to bestow on her a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They(she) will be called oaks(flowers)of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
and Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
My youngest son is employed right now and for that I am grateful. His employer owes him some money so please pray with me that he will get paid.
Truly, I feel blessed. Thank you for all who have prayed for me.
Becky,
