Final Word of Encouragement

I couldn't be more proud or attached to you, my SMCT 2009 online group.

Whether you've been involved for a quarter or a year, I sense the growth and courage that has occurred with each week. In fact, I've been very encouraged to meet many of you lately at my events.

I love knowing that we come from all walks of life with individual needs as well as gifts to give.

As you've personally or publicly expressed your gratefulness toward me, please know that you keep me coming back. You encourage me with your words AND your successes. I am also touched by the way you encourage and lift up each other.

You be encouraged my friends and sojourners. I look forward to quarter four: The 12 weeks before Christmas--I'm hopeful that we can finish together strong during the last quarter of the year which is so renown for stealing our money, calories and time! Amen?

Be encouraged,

Becky

If you still need or want to sign up for the 4th Quarter of SMCT in 2009 call Reggie at 800-444-6189 or click here!

Last Week of Quarter Three: Reports and Responses

Your turn to talk to me! I'm looking for your reports and responses from 3 months of saving money, calories, and time. So please come prepared to the phone call to share 2 or 3 sentences--your "pits" and "peaks". We'll share a high and a low...and then I'll share a word of encouragement to get us through the last week of the quarter.

I also would LOVE for everyone (I think there are almost 90 of us in this quarter) to share on the blog...what worked for you, what rating you would give yourself, what is the hardest part of saving money, calories, or time!

Come on everyone--let's end the quarter strong!

Be encouraged,

Becky

Week Twelve: All's Well that Ends Well

We have just one more week in the third quarter of Saving Money Calories and Time in 2009! And as I have closed each month with a catch-all-phrase, I never realized that this trendy tip was from a William Shakespeare play. Wikipedia describes the quote in this way:

All's Well That Ends Well is a play by William Shakespeare. It was probably written between 1601 and 1608,[1] and it was first published in the First Folio in 1623. Though originally the play was classified as a comedy, the play is now considered by some critics to be one of his problem plays, so named because they cannot be neatly classified as tragedy or comedy.

I had originally chosen this phrase because I thought we'd all be encouraged by the thought of how nearing the end of the quarter can and should be viewed as a positive race to the finish. But after reviewing the play notes, I realize that the message Shakespeare was giving had more to do with getting to the end no matter the means. Which, of course, most of us perpetually find ourselves repeating the same silly habits and getting the same silly results--that don't usually result in lasting change...until WE change.

Friends, I am asking you to consider that this quarter and this year is NOT QUITE OVER. What might you do (that you said you'd do when you began this series), save, give, or lose before this quarter and year are over? What might it take for you to achieve that end? And is there any message to you in the idea that ending well has a much better sense of accomplishment when you've been planning and participating WELL all along the way?

Let's consider, this week, how/what/when/where/why we can make a 2 week run for the end line with great passion and personal strength and courage. Yes?

Be encouraged,

Becky

Week Eleven: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail...

In almost every book I've written, I've quoted businessman W. Clement Stone who said, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Why? It doesn't matter if we're talking about food, quiet time, exercise, errands, or work projects, if you don't PLAN AHEAD, you will most likely forget something, feel rushed, or perform at a lower level than if you had planned ahead.

This principle--planning ahead--takes time.

In previous online groups, I've taught the 20/20/20 principle: 20 pray, 20 play, 20 plan. For 60 minutes each day, I suggest that your life would be more balanced, more healthy, and more peaceful if you would spend a minimum of 20 minutes praying, 20 minutes playing (or exercising in some fun way), and 20 minutes (YES EVERY DAY) planning out tomorrow, the week, the month and whatever else is going on in your life.

This week, give the 20/20/20 principle a try in your life. If you can't afford 60 minutes a day, then at least set aside 20 minutes each morning or evening to plan your tasks and to-do's for the current or coming day.

Be encouraged,

Becky

Week Ten: Say "NO" More!

Since our 3rd Quarter theme is Timely and Trendy Tips, I decided to reprise an old favorite of mine. So, if you’ve been in a group with me before, you know this is one of my favorite tips: Say "NO" more!

As we look at our theme—saving calories—there is no rocket science. There is no way to trick out bodies. We have to fuel our bodies with healthy foods then burn the fuel regularly or we will be sitting on...a tankful of extra fuel. Yep.

Saving calories can be achieved by saying “NO” more.

Why say “NO” to your self? Why do you say “NO” to anyone? Because there is for a good reason, right? So that is this week’s challenge.

From the extreme “NO” of “I will not eat xxx for 30 days until I see results and then I will only eat xxx once a week as a treat,” to “I will save calories like money in the bank. I will say “NO” to anything after 2000 calories per day.”

I’m sure we all have different philosophies on healthy eating and exercise, but there is a universal understanding regarding this rule: “Calories in, Calories out.” Too many calories in and two few out will result in too many unwanted pounds.

If you needed to hear this, no one but you will ever know☺…give it a try this week: Say “NO” more.

Be encouraged,

Becky
